Part 1:  Medical Terminology

This course is an introductory course designed exclusively for students in the Medical Office Billing Certificate program.  Students will become familiar with medical terms, abbreviations and pronunciations.

Part 2: Introduction to Medical Insurance - Medical Insurance Made Easy

Learn each phase of the medial claim cycle, from the time the patient calls for an appointment until the financial transaction for the encounter is completed. Become familiar with types of insurance payers, basic coding and billing rules, and standard requirements for outpatient billing using the CMS-1500 claim form.  Understand the  legal aspects related to each level of the medical claim cycle and the importance of the medical office employee, the employee responsibility for and impact on successful reimbursement.
