Careers in Modern Manufacturing

Maintenance Technician (Electrical/Mechanical)
Job Description: Perform electrical and mechanical installation, diagnostics and maintenance of field and plant equipment and facilities. Also involves trouble-shooting, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and use various tools.

Starting Salary: $25,000 - $35,000*
Potential Salary: $40,000 - $60,000* plus
SCC Programs:  Mechatronics Associate Degree – 2 years
                           Mechanical/Electrical Certificate – 1 year
                           Mechtronics I Certificate – less than 1 year


CNC Machinist
Job Description: Program, operate and maintain computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines that cut, bend, form and polish raw metal into finished parts and tools. Involves the ability to read and interpret blueprints, input data into a computer system and inspect the accuracy of a machine’s operations.

Starting Salary: $35,000 - $45,000*
Potential Salary: $50,000- $70,000*
SCC Programs:  Machine Tool Associate Degree – 2 years
                           Machine Tool Certificate – 1 year


Electronics Technician
Job Description: Maintain, troubleshoot and repair electronic manufacturing equipment in factories or industrial facilities. Requires an in-depth knowledge of electronics and electrical equipment.

Starting Salary: $22,000-$25,000* (w/ certificate), $42,000* (w/ assoc. deg.)
Potential Salary: $75,000* (w/ assoc. degree)
SCC Programs: Industrial Electronics Associate Degree – 2 years
                          Electronics Engineering Associate Degree - 2 years
                          Industrial Electricity Associate Degree – 2 years
                          Industrial Electricity Certificate – 1 year



Robotics Technician
Job Description: Install and repair computerized robotic systems. Also involves assisting engineers with robotic design, development, production, testing and operations.

Starting Salary:   $35,000 - $40,000*
Potential Salary: $50,000 - $75,000*
SCC Program:    Automated Manufacturing Associate Degree – 2 years


Industrial Production Associate
Job Description: Production worker duties include assembly line work, machine operator, record keeping, loading and unloading machines, operator helper

Starting Salary:   $20,000 - $27,040*
Potential Salary: $37,500 - $50,000*
SCC Programs:   Production Associate Associate Degree – 2 years
                            Production Associate I Certificate – less than 1 year
