Hit the road with Spartanburg Community College's Truck Driver Training Program for careers in the truck driving industry to help meet the fast growing needs for qualified professional truck drivers.
With an almost 95% placement rate for its graduates, SCC’s CDL program provides a straight path into the workforce. Students can walk right off campus and onto the workforce floor, full trained and prepared for the job ahead.

Note: A CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), a valid SC driver's license, and DOT physical are required prior to enrollment in class.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is five weeks for a total of 160 instructional hours and will qualify you to drive a tractor trailer. The training program includes:

In the Truck Driver Training Class B course, you will learn DOT Safety regulations, backing, parking, and docking. This two-week course will teach you to drive on city, country, and federal roadways. Upon successful completion, you will be ready to test for the Commercial Driver's License Class B.

In the Class B Dump Truck course, you will learn DOT Safety regulations, and properly operating a Dump Truck. This course will teach you to drive on city, country, and federal roadways. Upon successful completion, you will be ready to take the Commercial Driver's License Class B. Immediately upon completion of Class B program, you will begin the Backhoe/Loader Training Program.
In the Backhoe/Loader Operations portion of the Class B+ Course, you will be presented with types and designs of backhoe excavators, operating techniques of the backhoe/front bucket loader, and the use of the machine for digging and loading. Setting up the backhoe safely is emphasized.
“Seat time” activities cover safe operating procedures, walk-around inspections, operator controls and compartment, proper startup/shut-down procedures, basic operating procedures based on industry requirements so an individual can develop skills to operate equipment safely and proficiently.

This 8-hour class will provide you with the information needed to pass the Hazmat knowledge test to obtain your hazmat endorsement.

Training for those wishing to upgrade their Class B CDL license to Class A CDL. Instructional training will be provided in compliance with ELDT regulations. Preparation for and administration of SCDMV required Pre-trip, Skills and Road Test will be conducted at the completion of the course.
Length of the Course is 3 Weeks (98 Hours)
