Basic Life Support & CPR
Do you need to be certified in CPR and AED for your workplace? Have you been certified before and need to renew your certification? If you answered yes to either question, come join us for this 4 hour class. You will learn how to manage and become certified in adult, child, and infant CPR. This class also teaches you how to treat a patient who is choking and how to properly use an AED. This class meets all healthcare employers requirements for CPR certifications. This four hour course provides training in accordance with the American Heart Association guidelines. Students may register and pay online, by phone call 864 592 4900 or in person at Corporate Community Education located at the Tyger River Campus. Textbook is included and will be handed out in class.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Certified nursing assistants perform activities of daily living under the supervision of nursing staff. Employment opportunities include positions in skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, medical offices, assisted living facilities and home health agencies. Students who successfully complete this state-approved course are eligible to sit for the SC Nurse Aide Registry certification exam. This course is 110 hours.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: To provide a basic level of both knowledge and demonstrable skills for individuals who provide nursing or nursing related services to residents in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or nursing facility (NF).
Prerequisites for CNA:
- Successful completion of BLS (Basic Life Support) for the Healthcare Provider.
Spartanburg, Duncan and Union CNA Program requirements:
- Complete a background check
- 10-panel drug screen
- Hepatitis B immunization or signed declination
- Tetanus (Td booster within past 10 years, Tdap is recommended)
- Rubella-positive titer or 1 MMR vaccine
- MMR x's 2
- Influenza vaccine documentation during designated flu season (Oct-Mar) yearly. Students who do not take the flu vaccine should sign the flu declination form.
- COVID-10 vaccine or declination
- Each student must complete a TB Risk Assessment and Symptom Evaluation.
- Baseline Tuberculosis screening by one of the following methods prior to the clinical experience.
- Negative initial 2-step PPD. Both steps placed and read within the past 12 months.
- IGRA-QFT or T-Spot within the past 12 months.
- Documentation of positive TB test (skin test, QFT, T-Spot) and all the following:
- Clearance from the Department of Health and Environmental Control or health department from another state
- Chest X-ray within the past 6 months
Cherokee CNA Program Requirements:
- Complete background check
- 10-panel drug screen
- Baseline Tuberculosis screening by one of the following methods prior to the clinical experience.
- Negative initial 2-step PPD. Both steps placed and read within the past 12 months.
- IGRA-QFT or T-Spot within the past 12 months
- Documentation or positive TB test (skin test, QFT, T-Spot) and all the following:
- Clearance from the Department of Health and Environment Control or health department from another state
- Chest X-ray within the past 6 months

EKG Technician
This 72-hour course is designed to prepare students for electrocardiogram performances and procedures.
Electrocardiogram (EKG) technicians use special equipment and medical techniques to record the electrical impulses transmitted by a patient's heart. Data acquired by electrocardiogram technicians assists physicians and cardiologists in diagnosing medical conditions in patients. EKG technicians are typically employed in hospitals, private cardiology clinics, and laboratories.
Course Description: With this course you will learn the anatomy and physiology of the heart, how to interpret and record heart rhythms, and how to place and interpret a twelve lead EKG. Successful students will be eligible to sit for the NHA EKG Certification Exam.
Prerequisites for EKG:
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of BLS (Basic Life Support) for the Healthcare Provider.
- Complete a background check, 10-panel drug screen, and 2-step PPD.
Cost: $1,450 - Includes textbook and NHA Certification Exam Fee. Textbook will be available in class.

Phlebotomy
Phlebotomists are an integral part of the healthcare team. Phlebotomists work in a variety of clinical settings, including hospital laboratories, outpatient laboratories, physician offices, and blood donor clinics. Phlebotomists collect blood samples for testing, research, donations, and transfusions. Students who successfully complete this 93-hour course are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareers Association Certification exam.
Course description: Students will learn to follow universal precautions, tie tourniquets, identify veins, and demonstrate knowledge and use of equipment necessary for drawing blood. Students will be able to identify appropriate tubes and labels for tests, prep the site, and perform venipunctures and finger sticks.
Prerequisites for Phlebotomy:
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful completion of BLS (Basic Life Support) for the Healthcare Provider.
- Complete a background check, 10-panel drug screen, and 2-step PPD.

Certified Esthetician
Esthetics is a branch of anatomical science that deals with the overall health and well-being of the skin, which is the largest organ of the human body. An esthetician is a specialist in the cleansing, beautification, and preservation of the health of the skin on the entire body, including the face and neck. Estheticians frequently work in salon and spa settings, where they perform facials, facial massages, waxing, and body treatments. They also provide makeup services.
Students who successfully complete this 450-hour course are eligible to sit for the SC Board of Cosmetology Licensing Theory and Practical examinations.
Course description: Students in this SC Board of Cosmetology approved program will learn the sciences of the skin, the fundamentals of esthetics, and business practices for estheticians. Students will learn to perform hands on treatments such as facials, waxing, body scrubs, and makeup application.
Prerequisites for Esthetics:
- High school diploma or GED
- Complete a background check,10-panel drug screen, and 2-step PPD.
Cost: $4,995 - Textbooks are included in the tuition and will be available in class.

Advanced Eyelashes
Want to learn advanced eyelash extension techniques? From infection control to client consultation, classic and volume lash application, to building an eyelash business, our 24-hour Advanced Eyelash class provides the tools needed for estheticians and cosmetologists to be successful in the booming Eyelash industry. During this 24-hour course, students will study the latest Eyelash curriculum by Milady and receive a Professional Eyelash Extension kit to jumpstart their Eyelash career!
This class is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:
Hold a current esthetician license or hold a current cosmetologist license or esthetics students who are enrolled in an esthetics program and have completed 250 hours or more of the required 450 program hours or cosmetology students who are enrolled in a cosmetology program and have completed 750 hours or more of the required 1,500 program hours. Proof of licensure or verification of logged hours must be provided to register. This course is not for CE credit and students cannot use the hours for program completion requirements.
Tuition: $875 payable at registration

Patient Care Technician Program
The Patient Care Technician (PCT), sometimes called Emergency Room Technician (ERT), can work in various healthcare settings including hospitals, medical offices, and long-term care facilities. The SCC PCT Program is designed to give students control over their schedules! Rather than complete each required program/class (CNA, EKG, Phlebotomy, & Medical Terminology) consecutively, students may complete these in the order that works for them. Upon completion of the required coursework and certification exams, students are eligible to sit for the NHA PCT certification exam. This program is an ideal pathway to obtain multiple certifications in the healthcare field!
Requirements for PCT:
- High School diploma or GED
- Complete a background check and 10-panel drug screen.
- 2-step PPD
- Influenza vaccine or a sign declination is required if attending class between October and March.
Tuition/Scholarship funding is available for the courses that comprise PCT:
