Floriculture Plant Identification List (Plant List Images):

  • This is a list of 50 floriculture plants from which 25 live specimens will be given for proper identification. 

Floriculture Practicum: 

Potting Plant Cuttings (Individual CDE)

Contestants will demonstrate the ability to properly pot & label several rooted cuttings of a herbaceous plant.

Objectives:

  • Properly fill container to the correct level with potting soil
  • Handle cuttings correctly
  • Plant rooted cutting at proper depth and soil firmness
  • Properly label the plant

Identifying Plant Disorders (Team CDE)

Contestants will be given a picture of 15 plant diseases or insects (only) listed on the Disorder Practicum Scorecard (page 23) of the national FFA Floriculture CDE list to correctly identify.

Objectives

  • Students will properly match the disease and insect image provided to its correct name.

Nursery/Landscape Images

  • ScorThis is a list of 50 nursery plants from which 25 live specimens will be given for proper identification.

Nursery/Landscape Pests and Disorders Identification: Pest Disorders (PDF)

  • Participants will identify 10 Diseases and/or Disorders from the CDE approved list. These will be identified from pictures or specimens.

Nursery/Landscape Equipment and Supplies Identification: Equipment (PDF)

  • Participants will identify 20 samples of either equipment or supplies used in the Nursery or Landscape business from the CDE approved list.

Nursery/Landscape Practicums

Irrigation Controller Programming: (Individual CDE)

Contestants will demonstrate the ability to correctly maneuver through the settings of an irrigation controller and properly set it up on a watering schedule.

Objectives:

  1. Contestants should be familiar with the basic settings of irrigation controllers.
  2. Follow specific controller programming directions
  3. Demonstrate the proper setup of a designated watering schedule.
