SCC administration monitors all potential closing/delay situations closely and makes decisions in the best interest of students, faculty and staff.

College personnel will do everything possible to clear campus roadways, parking lots, walkways and entrances of any snow and ice prior to arrival; students and employees should use caution making their way across campus.
In the event the college is in operation and weather conditions worsen during the day, college administration will, above all else, consider the safety and welfare of students and employees in making the decision to close the college and will disseminate this information to students and employees as quickly as possible. SCC Inclement Weather FAQ
Although Spartanburg Community College strives to remain open to ensure continuity of services to students and the public, extreme conditions can warrant the usage of the college's Weather or Other Short-Term Closing Policy.
A Weather or Other Short-Term Closing refers to an official temporary shutdown of the college due to severe weather, major utility failure or another critical reason in which the duration is less than five days.

Decisions are made with deliberation and care. Input is received from Campus Police and Facilities, and after careful review, the college president is ultimately responsible for making the final determination.
Students who have concerns about the safety of traveling to class should contact their instructors about their individual situations, and, if necessary, make arrangements regarding any missed coursework. If you have concerns about the arrangements your instructor has requested, you may seek resolution from the appropriate department head or dean.
When inclement weather strikes the area, students are advised to first consider the conditions in their immediate area relative to traveling safely. Conditions may vary significantly within the service area of the College and its satellite campuses. Decisions regarding SCC operations are made on the general status of the overall service area.
Students are ultimately responsible for their own safety and travel decisions. Coursework is also the continuing responsibility of students. A decision to be absent from a class for any reason does not exonerate students from their full responsibility to complete all prescribed coursework. If you decide not to attend class, please notify your instructor(s).

* Due to the projected inclement weather, all SCC campuses will be reverting to a remote workday on Friday, January 10, 2025.
For those able to work remotely, please ensure you remain accessible and engaged with your responsibilities from home. If remote work is not an option for you or you need that time for other responsibilities, you may use annual leave for the day. Please coordinate with your supervisor to discuss and finalize any necessary arrangements. Don't forget to take home any equipment you'll need to work effectively tomorrow.
We also ask that you extend kindness and flexibility to your students during this time. Understand that they may face challenges during the storm – such as loss of power, and your support can make a significant difference.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety and adaptability. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your supervisor.
Any further updates will be available on our website at www.sccsc.edu/alerts.
